Camilo,

the question is not whether new blood is needed. It is, as demonstrated by the retirement statistics. The question is whether that new blood will be good or bad. I'm proposing that unless we want it to be bad, good people should stop poo-pooing government service.

I work with some of those government employees you speak about, and agree with your characterization. Many want to improve their government as well. Let's find a way to work with the EXISTING federal workforce towards the common goal -- let's not make the assumption that the only way to change the culture is to replace it with new blood.

[...] Matthew Burton » Why I Help “The Man”, and Why You Should Too …our mission is to fight government, not improve it. This attitude is not constructive. It shows not only an unwillingness to cooperate with the government, but a refusal to even take seriously the government’s own reform efforts.
Hey Matt! I found you via PDF2008 conference Web site. I also saw your name mentioned in Tim Shorrock's excellent book "Spies for Hire". I've bookmarked your blog and will mention it at IntelFusion. Thanks for your good work.

I'm with you. I see the breakdown as being an inclusive person, or an exclusive person.

I just spent the past week talking about the One Laptop per Child to people who blow stuff up for a living. It was hard, but it's even more important to reach out to these people than to people who are already aligned with you philosophically.

Thank you for your post.
